What are wrinkle fillers?
Wrinkle fillers are injectable products made of a pure synthetic substance, usually replicating what occurs naturally in the body. Our body's own skin gel or fibres holds water, giving hydration and youthful volume to our skin.Back To Top
Where can wrinkle fillers be injected?
Most areas of the face (also parts of neck and hands) can be injected by wrinkle fillers, though different areas do require fillers of different density. Standard fillers are best injected into superficial tissue such as the lips, smoker's lines, scars and fine wrinkles. Denser products are best injected into deeper tissue such as the nasolabial folds, marionette lines and cheeks.Back To Top
What can I expect during treatment?
Once you and your practitioner have decided on which is the best filler to aesthetically augment the areas you wish to improve, you will be given a choice of two kinds of anaesthesia to minimise any discomfort during your treatment. Wrinkle fillers are all injectable products and therefore some discomfort may be experience during the treatment. Your practitioner will firstly administer a dental block to completely numb the treatment area. If a dental block is not advised, or not suitable for the area to be treated, a topical anaesthetic cream and ice can be applied to help reduce any pain during treatment. We advise a late appointment if it is the first time you are to have lip filler, as this is a sensitive area and is prone to some swelling. Wrinkle filler results are instantaneous and the results can be seen when you leave your appointment.Back To Top
What can I expect after treatment?
Due to skin gel being a naturally water binding substance, swelling at the injections site will occur almost immediately from water in our body. This will usually take one to two days to subside, although some of your anticipated volume achieved is due to this. Some small spot bruising may occur at the injection site but should dissipate quickly. Swelling can be minimised directly after treatment with the application of wrapped ice to the area.Back To Top
How long will my treatment last?
The depth of your lines, the amount of product used, your skin condition (your parents skin type) and lifestyle will determine the length of your treatment. Wrinkle fillers can last for up to twelve months (some longer) but generally most patients notice the start of your body's natural absorption of the product at around the three to six month mark and will proceed with a top up around three to nine months post the original treatment.Back To Top
