Take Care of Your Skin This Summer

13 Jan 2021

Has this warm weather left your skin looking oily, dull, and blemished?

Are you noticing signs of ageing and wondering how to slow down this process?

The blazing sun and heat in Perth can be unforgiving to our bodies; and especially to our skin. Pollution and other environmental contaminants can take away from our skin’s natural radiance, leading us to search for different treatments that can reverse the damage caused. At Absolute Cosmetic, we offer a range of treatments and products which can assist in giving you radiant, glowing skin; all year round.

The most important factor when caring for your skin in Summer is SPF. It is crucial to wear sunscreen every day, even when the sun is hidden behind clouds.

According to an ‘Annals of Internal Medicine’ study, daily use of sunscreen can slow skin aging associated with middle age. Researchers in Australia randomised 900 adults (younger than 55), with a mean age of 39, to four treatments: daily broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 15+), plus beta carotene supplementation, daily sunscreen plus placebo, discretionary sunscreen plus beta carotene, or discretionary sunscreen plus placebo.

After 4.5 years of follow-up, only daily sunscreen users showed no increase in photoaging. Compared with discretionary sunscreen users, daily users were 24% less likely to have increased photoaging. Beta carotene use did not appear to have a protective effect.

We offer a range of SPF options at Absolute Cosmetic Medicine, including RATIONALE B3-T and Beautiful Skin Superfluid, which are both SPF50. B3-T Tinted Superfluid SPF50 is a sheer, tinted daily serum designed for ultimate skin hydration and solar protection. Fortified with Vitamin B3 (Niacinamide) and powerful Green and Red Tea Extract Antioxidants plus Vitamins C + E, this super lightweight formula soothes as it protects skin from environmental aggressors. This product is perfect for even the most sensitive skin.

Non-surgical injections

Expression lines can increase during the Summer months as we find ourselves squinting to be able to see.

Botulinum toxin injections work by temporarily blocking the transmitting messages between nerve and muscle cells. This means that the movement of the muscle is restricted or paralysed (depending on the muscle and the wants of the client). This gives the overlying skin the chance to rest and reduce the appearance of expression lines.

There is little to no recovery time for this treatment. However, you may experience bruising or swelling for a few days afterwards. This is a side effect of a needle breaking the skin, all needles can cause bruising.

Kleresca Rosacea

Do you get flushed and turn pink/red in the heat? Our Kleresca Rosacea treatment is a non-invasive treatment that is clinically proven to reduce the signs and symptoms of rosacea and stimulate the skin’s own repair symptoms.

The Kleresca Rosacea treatment targets symptoms of rosacea by reducing inflammation, reducing erythema and blushing by improving micro vascularisation, reducing the overall stress level of the skin, thereby reducing the feeling of burning and stinging, all whilst inducing a healing response, improving the overall quality of the skin.

We also offer Kleresca Acne Treatment and Kleresca Skin Rejuvenation at Absolute Cosmetic Perth.

The HydraFacial is a multi-pronged skin care treatment which can be carried out regularly over a long period of time – from weeks to months, depending on the condition of your skin. It involves three steps; cleanse + peel  to uncover a new layer of skin and boost blood circulation whilst draining toxins from your system, extract + hydrate to remove debris from pores and nourish the skin with intense moisturiser and fuse + protect to saturate the skin’s surface with antioxidants and peptides to maximise glow.

The HydraFacial will give you gorgeous, glowing skin – leaving you to ditch the make up for an all-natural glow.

Whilst microdermabrasion is often recommended during Winter to target the effects that the harsh weather has had on dry skin, it can also be performed in Summer to treat oily skin and congested pores. A microdermabrasion treatment is an exfoliating technique that can minimise the size of skin pores, reduce acne breakouts, renew skin elasticity and restore radiant skin.

Whilst there is no recovery time after microdermabrasion, it is important to take care of your skin right after the treatment. A microdermabrasion will remove the top layer of your skin and make your face more sensitive to the sun. Therefore, it is important to be vigilant with your SPF application.

Chemical Peels

Similarly to microdermabrasion, chemical peels can be beneficial in both the warmer and cooler months. A Chemical Peel is a treatment in which a chemical solution is applied to the skin to reduce fine lines and remove the damaged outer layers of the skin by causing it to exfoliate and eventually peel off. We use several types of peels depending on patient requirements.

Chemical peels can refresh the skin by removing its outer damaged layers during the application of the treatment. Some sunspots, irregular pigmentation, freckles and rough, scaly patches can be significantly reduced – also making it the perfect, post-summer treatment.

We use several types of peels and strengths depending on patient requirements.
