The jowls are a common aesthetic problem after about 45 years of age. There are a few ways of treating this from the small procedure to the larger. A small procedure is to fill the prejowl sulcus (the area in front of the jowl) so that the dip doesn’t look as severe. This is what we call ‘hiding the S-bend’ – it takes approximately 15 minutes and can last between 3 and 12 months. It’s a great procedure with very little downtime.

Another way to treat jowls is to use VaserLiposculpture to take the fat out of the jowl as the fat pad here gets larger as we get older. Vaser has the added benefit of tightening the skin. Unfortunately some people have loose skin and muscle here and need a thread-lift. This can be a small, closed thread-lift done via small punctures made by needles or the larger cutting method which has a small cut in front of the ear. The downtime for this can range from 1 day to 2 weeks for the larger procedures.
