How is the Brazilian Butt Lift performed?

First, fat is harvested from a suitable area (usually legs, abdomen or back) under local anaesthesia. The harvested fat is then treated, refined and re-injected into the buttock area under local anaesthesia. We use Vaser Pro Liposuction as our preferred method of liposuction; it allows for a greater rate of fat cell survival than traditional methods.

The time taken to do the procedure will depend on the amount of fat being removed and injected.  Both the removal of the fat and the injection to the buttock can be performed on the same day.

Is one Brazilian Butt Lift treatment enough?

The body will reabsorb some of the injected fat and you may require a top-up treatment. We use Vaser Pro Liposuction to remove the fat as it is a gentler technique than traditional liposuction, leading to an increase in cell survival rate.

What happens before the Brazilian Butt Lift procedure?

Smoking and illicit drug use must be strictly avoided before the procedure. We take smoking very seriously as a high risk for any procedure, so you must be aware of the cancellation policy if you smoke.  Smoking increases the risk of some serious complications during and after surgery.  Ideally, you should stop smoking at least 8-weeks prior to a procedure, cutting down does not reduce the risk of complications, however, the greatest health benefit is gained by quitting smoking for good.  More information about the possible complications, as well as information about how to quit, is available here.

You should be fit and healthy, and avoid blood thinning medication such as aspirin, anti-inflammatory medicine. You must fast on the day of the procedure. You are able to eat dinner as usual the night before, then you must stop drinking fluids at midnight. On the morning of the procedure you can take a small sip of water to take your pre-surgery medication.

At least 2-consultations are needed before most procedures. A full history and examination will be conducted. You will be started on antibiotics and extensive instructions will be given.

What happens after the Brazilian Butt Lift procedure?

Recovery generally takes 5-7 days.  The surgeon will usually inject slightly more fat that needed as some of the fat will be reabsorbed. Some results will be seen immediately, but the true results will take from 6-weeks to 6-months as the swelling decreases.
