How does skin rolling work?

Needling the skin using a roller with superficial ultra-thin needles creates tiny areas of trauma on your skin. This initiates a natural healing process, releasing natural growth factors and stimulating the production of collagen and elastin. As a result, your skin becomes smoother and tighter.

Is this treatment for me?

A consultation is required to determine suitability of treatment for each individual. Other factors such as what it is you are hoping to improve, your age, skin type and more, will help to see whether this is the right procedure for you.

If you are interested in skin rejuvenation and resurfacing treatments, the following other procedures we offer at Absolute Cosmetic, may be of interest to you –

What happens after the treatment?

Once the initial production of elastin and collagen have been stimulated by the treatment, the ‘factories’ producing these healing chemicals can continue to work for several months. As time goes by, your results may improve.

This is an extremely popular treatment although the evidence is mostly anecdotal.

Skin rolling may be done using a topical anaesthetic cream and once the skin is fully anaesthetised, you should not feel any discomfort. If further anaesthesia is required, a small amount of conscious sedation may be used. It is not recommended to drive for 24 hours after the use of this sedation.

Do I need further treatments?

The optimum period between treatments is currently 1 to 3 months. This may change with increased industry experience with this unique treatment. The procedure can be very effective, especially in combination with other treatments.

*Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks.  Before proceeding you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified practitioner.
