Take years off your face by removing sunken jowls
Our faces change as we age, including our skin, facial muscles, the soft tissues including fat pads, and even bone structure. ’Jowls’ is a word often used to describe sagging skin below your chin or jawline. It can appear as a ‘double chin’.
Jowls are due to the natural ageing of the skin, muscles and fat pads in the face. As we age, the body reduces collagen and elastin production, the connective tissue fibres in the skin. This weakens the skin’s strength and elasticity, especially in areas exposed to the sun.
Some people are more likely to suffer from jowls as they age. Smoking can damage collagen and elastin and therefore increase the risk and severity of jowls. Also, if you lose a lot of weight your skin may not return to what it was and this can cause sagging.
We have a range of surgical and non-surgical procedures that can reduce jowls. If you are interested in treatment options, we recommend that you book a complimentary consultation which allows us to assess your concern and recommend the best treatment options for you.
