What are wrinkles?

A wrinkle, also called a rhytide, is a fold, ridge or crease in your skin. Wrinkles typically appear as a result of aging processes, such as glycation (excess sugar in diet), habitual sleeping positions, loss of body mass, or temporarily, when your body has been immersed for a long time in water.
Each time you use a facial muscle, a groove forms under the surface of the skin. When a person is young, the skin springs back, but as you age, the collagen and elastin fibers in your skin start to lose their elasticity and this leads to the appearance of wrinkles and aging lines.. Springing back becomes harder and less frequent, resulting in wrinkles.
