A guide to hyaluronic acid-based Injections to cheeks

01 Mar 2022

Trends in beauty come and go, but one trend which has endured the test of time is a lifted, contoured, and well-defined cheekbones. Cheekbones have been long coveted, from the timeless beauty of Angelina Jolie in the 1990s to Bella Hadid who we often see in the media today.

So, let’s talk about hyaluronic acid-based injections for the cheeks.

Hyaluronic acid-based injections are injectable substances used to enhance and add volume to the cheek area. There are different types of products available in the market used for facial rejuvenation, which we are unable to name. However, they differ in their composition, longevity, and intended use. The most commonly used products are composed of a substance that is naturally found in the body and they provide temporary enhancement of facial features. They are commonly used for lip augmentation, filling wrinkles, and restoring volume to the cheeks and under-eye area.

They are typically absorbed by the body within 6-12 months, so maintenance injections are required to maintain the results. The longevity of hyaluronic acid-based injections depends on the type of product used and individual metabolism, ranging from 6 months to 2 years. The cost of hyaluronic acid-based injections to the cheeks varies depending on the type of product and amount required.

Benefits of Hyaluronic acid-based injections

The benefits of hyaluronic acid-based injections include enhanced cheekbones, improved facial symmetry, reduced signs of aging, improved facial contours, and minimal downtime. However, like any medical procedure, there are also some risks associated with this treatment, such as swelling, bruising, infection, and migration of product to other parts of the face. The procedure typically takes around 30-60 minutes, and involves consultation, preparation, injection, and evaluation. After the procedure, you may experience some swelling, bruising, and redness at the injection site, but these should subside within a few days. It’s important to follow your provider’s aftercare instructions and attend follow-up appointments. For further information, please see our treatment page.

One thing that we thoroughly believe is that no one size fits all. As not every cheek is the same, it cannot be approached in the same way. Each cheek has its own recipe! When treating a younger patient, usually in their 20’s to mid 30’s, we are looking to create that beautiful supermodel cheek. With a slightly older patient, someone who is experiencing some volume loss, we are looking at restoring volume to the cheeks. The outcome is something that is suitable for your face, enhances your features, and of course, addresses your concerns.

Training

At Absolute Cosmetic Perth we have a training program, so every registered nurse who comes through our clinic is trained by senior injector Stephanie Murray.  Injecting years of knowledge into our team – Stephanie trains them to segment the face and create landmarks, helping guide them as to where to place the filler. Genetics of course, plays a significant role in the placement of fillers, the way you treat someone with a flatter face, is different to how you would treat someone who has more prominent facial features. It is not only about looking at the face, assessing and diagnosing, but also discussing with the patient, and seeing what they really want.
