Renuvion Skin Tightening
Formerly referred to as J Plasma Skin Tightening, Renuvion is a minimally invasive skin tightening procedure that harnesses the power of plasma energy. This innovative technology delivers energy beneath the skin’s surface in a precise and controlled manner, inducing a contraction of tissue. Unlike traditional surgical skin tightening methods, Renuvion relies on small entry points, which lead to smaller scars.
While Renuvion skin tightening can be performed as a standalone procedure, it is often combined with liposuction. This combination can deliver improved results by removing fat and tightening the skin.
During a consultation with one of our medical team members, we can assess your specific needs and recommend the most suitable treatment plan, which may include Renuvion skin tightening as part of your comprehensive body contouring approach. We also offer multiple non-surgical skin tightening options.

Absolute Cosmetic is proud to be the first Cosmetic Clinic in Australia to introduce the innovative Renuvion Skin Tightening procedure. This groundbreaking technology offers a more comfortable and precise approach to surgical skin tightening options, allowing patients to achieve their aesthetic goals with advanced precision.
What does Renuvion Skin Tightening involve?
The Renuvion probe is inserted into a small incision. The device ionises helium gas with radio frequency energy to generate helium plasma. This helium plasma is then applied beneath the skin, where a combination of heat and the interaction of ionic and reactive particles from the plasma cloud induces a transformation in the dermis and underlying structure. The outcome is firmer skin with a smoother appearance, helping to reduce crepey texture.
Renuvion Skin Tightening employs plasma energy, which is delivered with a higher degree of precision compared to laser energy.
Cosmetic surgery medical requirements
From 1 July 2023, new regulations around cosmetic surgery were implemented by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulatory Agency (AHPRA) and the Medical Board of Australia. Please make sure you have read and understood these new reforms when considering your cosmetic surgery
Renuvion Skin Tightening Expected Results and Risks
This procedure is suitable for individuals with mild to moderate skin laxity due to factors like aging, weight loss, or pregnancy. It is also an excellent choice for those looking to prevent potential skin laxity that can occur after liposuction, especially when a substantial volume of fat is removed.
Renuvion works by enhancing skin structure and integrity, helping to avoid the stretched appearance that can sometimes result from other skin tightening procedures.
Renuvion, is a minimally invasive skin tightening procedure that uses a combination of helium plasma and radiofrequency energy to tighten loose skin. Alike any surgical procedure, it carries certain risks, including infection, bleeding and hematoma, burns, scarring, changes in skin sensation, swelling and bruising and/or skin irregularities.
It’s essential for patients considering Renuvion skin tightening surgery to discuss these risks with our clinical team and ensure they have a clear understanding of the potential outcomes before proceeding with the procedure.
Recovery and aftercare
Many patients opt to combine the Renuvion procedure with Liposuction. Fortunately, adding Renuvion to Liposuction does not extend the recovery time.
For individuals with sedentary jobs, it’s recommended to take 4-7 days off work, while those with physically demanding jobs may require 1-2 weeks off.
The return to exercise following the combined procedure is generally swift. As a general guideline, after one week, you can resume light exercise, two weeks for moderate exercise, and three weeks for full exercise. However, recovery timelines can vary from person to person, so it’s essential to follow your doctor’s recommendations. If your exercise regimen is highly intense, it’s advisable not to return to that level of activity for at least six weeks.
When resuming exercise, it is advisable to start with a small amount of physical activity, followed by a day off to gauge how your body feels. You can then gradually increase the intensity of your workouts every second day.
Swimming and sitting in spas should be avoided for at least 2 weeks or until the wounds are fully healed. It’s recommended to abstain from intercourse for at least 1 week following the procedure. As mentioned earlier, smoking is strictly prohibited for 6 weeks, and if possible, consider using this period as an opportunity to quit smoking for good.
Additionally, it’s a good idea to purchase a thermometer and monitor your temperature daily. If your temperature exceeds 37.5 degrees celsius, please report this to the nursing team. This helps in ensuring your post-operative recovery progresses smoothly.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON RENUVION SKIN TIGHTENING
In accordance with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) protocol, it is a prerequisite to obtain a GP referral for all cosmetic surgical procedures before scheduling a consultation with Dr. Glenn Murray. Additionally, a Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) questionnaire will need to be completed to assess your suitability for the procedure. To facilitate informed discussions and address any questions you may have, informational videos will be sent to your designated email prior to your meeting with Dr. Murray. Following a second consultation with a member of our clinical team, a mandatory 7-day cooling off period will commence. During this time, we strongly encourage you to seek further information and education regarding your desired procedure, as well as consider obtaining a second opinion. After the 7-day cooling off period, you are welcome to proceed with scheduling your procedure and embark on your Absolute Cosmetic journey.
It is imperative to strictly avoid smoking, vaping, and illicit drug use before, during, and after the procedure. Nicotine consumption during the surgical process heightens the risk of complications, infection, delayed healing, or an unsatisfactory cosmetic outcome. Please note that we maintain a stringent cancellation policy for those who continue to smoke or vape. We advise all patients to cease smoking at least 2 weeks before the procedure and to abstain for 6 weeks following the procedure. Reducing nicotine intake does not diminish the risk of complications; the most substantial health benefit is derived from quitting smoking altogether. We highly recommend and encourage the use of nicotine cessation aids during this period. For more comprehensive information regarding potential complications and guidance on quitting smoking, please refer to this resource.
It is vital to note that if you have smoked within the last 2 weeks, the procedure will be canceled, and payment will not be refunded.
To ensure your readiness for the procedure, being in good health is essential. It’s crucial to avoid blood-thinning medications such as aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs, fish oil, green tea, and turmeric leading up to the procedure. Additionally, a blood test should be conducted at least 1 week before the scheduled procedure. A nurse will go through an extensive checklist to ensure that you are well prepared, via a pre-operative call before your procedure day.
On the day of the procedure, fasting is mandatory, meaning you should refrain from consuming food or water for 6 hours prior to your scheduled surgical start time. However, you may take a small sip of water in the morning to consume any pre-surgery medication if necessary. These precautions are taken to optimize your safety and the success of the procedure. All paperwork must be completed before the procedure and will be sighted and signed by your admitting surgical nurse.
