What happens before the Thermage procedure?

All cosmetic procedures carry some risk, and our staff will discuss those with you during your consultation. Side effects are generally mild and may include redness, swelling, blisters, bumps and rare instances of surface irregularities.

During the Thermage RF skin tightening procedure

A handpiece with a smooth, flat tip delivers radio frequency (RF) technology, which heats up the deep, collagen-rich layers of your skin. The heat is designed to stimulate collagen and elastin production over time, which may help reduce sagging and enhance the smoothness and texture of your skin.

Each time the treatment device touches your skin, you’ll feel a brief cooling sensation, followed by a deep but brief heating sensation, followed by another cooling sensation. The heating sensation indicates that the deep layers of your skin are reaching temperatures designed to promote wrinkle smoothing; the cooling sensation protects the surface of your skin.

Throughout the procedure, your physician will ask for feedback on the level of heat sensation to help balance your comfort with maximum results.

We offer Thermage CPT®, which stands for Comfort Pulse Technology. These treatments incorporate vibration, which has been shown to improve patient comfort significantly.

Always limit your sun exposure for 30 days before and after your skin tightening treatment.

Most individuals experience minimal downtime and are typically able to resume regular activities shortly after the procedure, though individual experiences may vary.

Thermage treatment times average about 120 minutes.
