05 Dec 2017

Many people do not realise there are non-surgical treatment options to help reduce the occurrence and severity of headaches, migraines and hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating).

Please note that due to regulations, we are not able to mention the names of products as they are Schedule 4 drugs.

In the below video, Dr Murray is injecting the scalp as Vicki has been suffering from migraines.

Injections into the scalp to reduce excessive sweating.

Injecting in the scalp to reduce sweating has recently become increasingly popular in the US to prolong the time between blow-dry appointments.

Non-surgical treatment options to combat migraines

Allergan, a supplier of our botulinum toxin injections (the supplier we use for premium injectables), presented two studies to the FDA in 2010 showing an improvement in patients who suffered from chronic migraines.  Botulinum toxin injections help migraine sufferers by reducing abnormal muscle contractions.   The Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme added botulinum toxin injections to the list of subsidised treatments for chronic migraine sufferers in 2014, the Australian Medical Association Press Release can be seen here.

Non-surgical treatment options to reduce excessive sweating?

Botulinum toxin injections block the connection between the nerve and local sweat gland causing a reduction in sweating in the area that is injected.  It is important to note that the reduced sweating will only be in the area that is injected.  More information about botulinum toxin injections as a treatment to reduce sweating can he found here.

More information about botulinum toxin injections is available here.  To book in for a complimentary consultation with our nursing team please call us on 08 9389 9099.  Botulinum toxin injections are offered at all Absolute Cosmetic locations, however some areas can only be treated by a doctor.
