Liposuction

The Lowdown on Lipo

13 Apr 2023

If you are struggling to move stubborn fat and are looking to improve body contouring, a procedure that removes excess fat from various parts of the body, including the abdomen, hips, thighs, buttocks, arms, chin, and neck (aka liposuction) might be a solution. However, it is important to remember Liposuction is not a weight loss procedure but rather a body contouring procedure that can help improve the appearance of stubborn areas of fat that are resistant to diet and exercise.

Benefits of Liposuction

Liposuction can be used in combination with other cosmetic procedures, such as tummy tucks or breast reductions, to further enhance the overall appearance and shape of the body. Liposuction also has the potential to improve certain medical conditions, such as lipedema, lipodystrophy or gynecomastia.

Liposuction Technology and Techniques

Dr Murray has performed over 10, 000 liposuction procedures and is committed to researching new technologies to ensure he offers his patients the absolute best. An example of this is the Vibrasat® Pro, the leading technology for power-assisted liposuctions. This German technology vibrates back and forth 5,000 times per minute. Using this technology, Dr Murray performs various types of liposuction procedures, including VASER Pro, VASER Smooth and Hi-def VASER

VASER Pro Liposuction

Vaser Pro is an advanced form of liposuction that uses ultrasound energy to liquefy the fat cells, making them easier to remove. This technique is known for its ability to selectively target the fat cells, leaving surrounding tissue and blood vessels unharmed, resulting in less bruising and a faster recovery time.

VASER Smooth for Cellulite

Then there is VASER Smooth, a specialised form of Vaser Pro that is used to treat cellulite by targeting the fibrous bands that cause the dimpled appearance of the skin.

The Liposuction Procedure

During the liposuction, small incisions are made in the targeted areas, and a thin tube called a cannula is inserted through the incisions. The cannula is used to suction out the excess fat cells from beneath the skin. The amount of fat removed varies depending on the individual case, with a maximum amount of 5 litres of fat able to be removed in one procedure. Therefore being realistic about your results is very important.
