Breast Implant Checks Perth

Breast Implant Checks

Regular breast implant checks can help you avoid complications from a range of problems. Common complications can include ruptures, leaks, capsular contracture, and a rare breast-implant-related lymphoma. Issues associated with implants can take years to show in many cases, with the potential of risk increasing over time.

For more information on the recent TGA review of textured implants, read our blog.

For your health and well-being, it is recommended by our physicians that all women with implants conduct regular breast checks. Regular, monthly self-examinations can be performed by yourself, in the comfort of your own home. Additionally, we recommend annual examinations, which can be arranged with your general practitioner.

How do I prepare for my implant check appointment?

While you do not require a referral to arrange an appointment, we do ask that you bring any documentation, reports, and scans to your appointment, to help the doctor assess your situation as best as possible.

What happens at the appointment?

Absolute Cosmetic’s breast physician, Dr. Glenn Murray will perform a thorough assessment of your breast implants and, if required, perform an ultrasound on the same day. The initial Implant Check and ultrasound appointment is bulk-billed, however, if future appointments are recommended, costs may apply which you will be advised of.

If Dr. Murray suspects that a surgical correction or implant revision is necessary, you will be advised of further instructions on how best to proceed.

Breast Implant Removal

Breast Implant Removal is performed for many reasons. Some choose to have a replacement of their implants whereas others choose to completely remove them. Breast implants that are aged, damaged, or ruptured cannot be repaired, they must be removed and can be replaced. Manufacturers of breast implants recommend that they be replaced after 10 years.
