What is Hay Fever Treatment?

Hay Fever Treatment is a topical application of product, applied via the nasal passage. It is used to help minimise the severity of hay fever (allergic rhinitis) and other allergy symptoms, including a runny or congested nose, sneezing, itchy or watery eyes, headaches, and general tiredness. Nerve endings are blocked when the product is applied to the nasal passage, reducing inflammation of the surrounding tissue and passage.

This treatment is needle and pain-free, with no reported downtime.

How the Hay Fever Treatment work?

An atomiser spray bottle is gently inserted into the nasal passage to disperse the active ingredient into the nasal mucosa.

What area does it treat?

Hay Fever Treatment can be used to treat the sinus area, specifically the nasal passage.

How often should you have Hayfever Treatment?

It is recommended to have the treatment every 6 months to stay on top of hay fever symptoms. If hay fever symptoms are severe, and the first treatment does not provide enough relief, another dose up 3-4 weeks later is recommended.

What happens on the day of your Hay Fever treatment?

The Treatment

Before any treatment, a consultation is necessary to ensure you understand the potential risks, complications, and issues that may arise. You’ll be asked to sign consent forms and complete a mandatory questionnaire that your nurse will go through with you. Following this, our doctors will be contacted for consent to proceed with the treatment. Throughout this process, feel free to ask any questions or share concerns you may have. Our registered nurses will be happy to address them with you.

For best results, it is recommended to give yourself a gentle nasal flush before attending your appointment. The nasal flush will assist with absorption of the product into the nerve endings.

The treatment itself will only take a few minutes, a syringe with a foam tip otherwise known as an atomiser spray will be inserted into the nasal passage to then evenly distribute the active ingredients into nasal mucosa.

Please note that some of these areas may be areas that only experienced injectors or doctors-only injection sites. Please advise on the area that you’re looking to treat when booking, so that our receptionist team can ensure that you are booked with the appropriate practitioner.

Post Treatment

It is advised to refrain from blowing your nose for 72 hours and vigorous exercise for 24 hours following your hay fever treatment. It is also important to not use other allergy nasal sprays for 24 hours before the treatment.
