Reduce the signs of ageing and smooth facial lines and creases with wrinkle relaxers in Perth at Absolute Cosmetic Medicine.
At Absolute we use Allergan, Galderma and Merz premium products where we are the only corporate clinic in Western Australia – and one of the first worldwide to use them.
Treatments such as wrinkle relaxers and anti-wrinkle injections, provided by our qualified medical professionals, are simple and safe procedures to help achieve a fresher, more youthful appearance.
One of the most commonly performed cosmetic procedures, anti-wrinkle injections and facial muscle relaxants are great for frown lines, forehead lines, crow’s feet, smoker’s lines, neck lines, neck anti-aging, bunny lines, cheek slimming, teeth grinding, migraines and hyperhidrosis (anti-sweating injections).
Wrinkle relaxers are a purified protein, which is injected into facial muscles in small amounts, causing temporary muscle weakening. No local anaesthetic or sedation is usually required.
The effect is long lasting, but not permanent with repeated treatments used to increase the duration of the effect.

Important Points Regarding Wrinkle Treatments
There are three main approved wrinkle relaxers on the market in Australia.
Don’t be fooled by misleading advertising as to cheaper prices per unit. Different products have different units and may sound cheaper, when in fact you are receiving no discount at all. Some clinics also use products that have been watered down.
Always ensure to have your procedure performed at a licensed clinic with experienced injectors using full strength products.
All patients must be seen by a doctor before their wrinkle treatment. This is a legal requirement.
It is also illegal to import injectables into Australia.

Day of Anti-Wrinkle Injections
A full consultation will be included that covers all the risks and benefits of the treatment. Ice will be applied to the area after it has been cleaned and a very fine needle is inserted with the product. Treatment takes approximately 15 minutes and recovery is almost immediate.
The product works by blocking the nerve that feeds the muscle. This is not a permanent block and can last 3-6 months. If a complication such as eyebrow droopiness occurs, usually this will resolve quite quickly within 2-4 weeks.
The nerve that is blocked can no longer transmit impulses to the muscle so the muscle does not contract. This does not rid facial expression, but reduces over expression. This over expression can lead to deep creases and furrows in the face. Reducing this movement prevents aging and treats existing lines.
The effect usually improves the more the product is used but sometimes dermal filling is also needed.
After the Procedure
You will be given instructions for post procedure care, which must be followed carefully. Do not lay flat for four hours following the procedure.
The wrinkle relaxing effect is noticed slowly over 5-10 days. One to two percent of people need a top up after 14 days. Some patients do need a higher dose, especially men.
If the patient does not like the treatment, they are not locked into future treatments as the effect will wear off, although 3 months of non-wrinkling will be beneficial for life.
One advantage of wrinkle relaxers is the wrinkle prevention aspect. The longer wrinkle relaxers are used, usually the more wrinkle prevention occurs. The added advantage is that most complications are completely reversible.
We can provide wrinkle relaxer treatments and consultations at the following locations in Perth and regional Western Australia; Albany, Applecross, Bunbury, Dunsborough, Karratha, Nedlands, Geraldton, Joondalup, Mandurah and Morley.
